Perito Polícia Federal - 2018 - Questões comentadas - QUÍMICA

The amount of heat released per mole of decomposed H2O molecule is greater in the reaction performed in the presence of the catalyst than in the uncatalyzed reaction.

A catalyst is a substance that lowers the activation energy and increases the speed of a reaction. An activated complex of lower activation energy is formed which accelerates the reaction. The catalyst is not consumed in the reaction. It does not change the chemical composition of the reagents and products. The catalyst does not change the enthalpy of the reaction, so the ΔH (Hf - Ho) remains the same, with or without catalyst, so the amount of heat released during the reaction is not higher nor less in the presence of the catalyst.
